Wardrobe Essentials

Wardrobes are about as varied as the individuals who own them, and you’d be unlikely to find the exact same things in two people’s wardrobes. Despite our individual flares, there are still a few things that you’ll find in absolutely everyone’s wardrobe – for good reason to! So, if you think that you might be missing something important or you just want to feel smug because you already have everything, then come with me as I go through my wardrobe essentials.

White T-shirt

Basics don’t come as basic as this. While you might think that a plain white tee is a little on the boring side, it’s become something of a cultural icon for a reason. The versatility of the white t-shirt means that you can wear it as part of pretty much any outfit and it’ll still look good. Plain t-shirts are also essential for those lazy days in.

It would not be inaccurate to label me as a shoe collector, or even addict, but if I was forced to give away all my shoes except from one pair, I’d keep a pair of flats. A pair of dark flats can see you through almost any situation, whether it is a fancy occasion or just a day out and about in the town. If you don’t already have a pair of these, then I don’t know what you’ve been doing with yourself.

Wrap Dress

More so than any other type of dress, wrap dresses are great all year round – especially in the summer – and they are always flattering, no matter your body type. If you can find one in a particularly nice pattern, then you can also get a bit more of your own personality into your look for less.

Smart Trousers

If you work in an office environment, the chances are that you spend quite a lot of your time wearing a pair of smart trousers. While you definitely get a lot of functional use out of these for work, they’re also a good choice for formal events, especially when you’re looking for something a bit warmer than a skirt or dress.

Knitted Jumper

I’m a bit of a habitual jumper wearer – one of those weirdos that you see sporting a thick woolly jumper in the height of summer. While I can’t say that my approach of year-round jumper wearing is the most appropriate, there is no denying that a nice, cosy woolly jumper is perfect for snuggling up on a cold winter day.
